CHESTNUT GROVES
Colle di Casotto
OBSERVING THE LANDSCAPE
The climb up from Garessio crosses the historic chestnut groves of Mindino: the drying huts can still be seen and traces of a traditional agricultural-forestry-pastoral economy, also to be found in Viola (Val Mongia). On particularly clear days, the sea can be glimpsed above the watershed towards Liguria. In autumn, the foliage turns into the striking colours of beech and chestnut trees.
